MUSCULOSKELETAL (MSK) AND PAIN WORKSHOPS

COURSE DESCRIPTION

These workshops on Ultrasound for Pain and Musculoskeletal Medicine is offered to physicians who wish to learn ultrasound-guided nerve block procedures for chronic pain management. At the end of this course, the participants would have acquired basic knowledge of ultrasound imaging for chronic pain procedures.

An overview/introduction for each station will be provided with a group demonstration.

Participants will have the opportunity to perform ultrasound scanning on live models, with expert supervision of our facilitators.

This course is for physicians with experience in Pain Management pertaining to Anesthesia, Surgery, Physical Medicine, Orthopedics and Rheumatology.

18 October 2017, Wednesday
Animal Workshop in PNB
Cardinal Santos Medical Center
Philippine Center for Advanced Surgery (PCAS) Building

COURSE DESCRIPTION
This workshop aims to enable participants to experience actual ultrasound scanning and needling on live, anesthetized pigs. There are 5 stations, 3 of which are dedicated to limb scanning and blocks, while the remaining 2 are for truncal and paravertebral blocks. There will be 2 sessions (a morning and afternoon session), limited to 15 participants per session, with 3 participants per pig and 1-2 facilitators. At the end of the workshop, the participant is expected to be comfortable in handling the ultrasound for scanning and locating the pertinent nerves and sonoanatomy, as well as having a basic feel of needling on a live animal.
